Kagan Stern Partner Gives Presentation to Business Group on Politics in the Workplace

December 10, 2024

Kagan Stern Partner, Stephen Stern, frequently speaks on a variety of topics to business groups.  Shortly before the election, he had the privilege of speaking before a group of human resource professionals on the sensitive subject of politics in the workplace.

On October 24, 2024, Mr. Stern gave a presentation at the 19th Annual Fall Conference of the Chesapeake Human Resources Association entitled, “Politics in the Workplace – Legal Implications and Best Practices.”  The presentation covered a number of subjects and hypothetical scenarios that might arise in the workplace under the broad topic of “politics in the workplace” and the legal implications of those situations.  Mr. Stern enjoyed the opportunity and appreciated the audience participation, as well as the feedback he received after the presentation.  One of his favorite comments that aptly summarized the complexities of the subject was, “Brave man!”

Mr. Stern gave a presentation earlier in the year on a similarly sensitive topic when he addressed the HR Virginia Annual State Conference on April 24, 2024 with a presentation entitled, "How Should Employers Handle the Protests Concerning the Middle East Conflict?" The presentation was based in large part on an article/post Mr. Stern previously wrote, which can be found here.
